Why study this program?
Public Health in its multiple forms and functional areas has always remained a priority helping the
human race to survive on this planet. In the modern world public health has evolved into an
interdisciplinary science based on evidence-based approaches and supported by the advancements
in almost all other industry sectors. An enterprise of such a vast expanse and criticality needs leaders
with not just technical superiority but a strong foundation in the tenets of strategic leadership and
management.
Public Health Leadership is the practice of organizing people, institutions, and communities to
efficiently deliver solutions for public health challenges and create a system of continuous
upgradation. Leadership is a core and crucial competency factor for working in the public health
system. Leaders are professionals with Vision, Prestige, Values and Passion to accomplish individual,
organizational, national and international missions. Approbation of the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs) by member states of the United Nations (UN) has fixed a new plan for public health
action at national and global levels. The improved agenda calls for a redefining of what comprises
effective leadership in public health, through a design that reflects the interrelationship of
leadership at multiple levels across the healthcare system and its stakeholders in other sectors. This
is crucial in the context of Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) that are facing complex
demographic and epidemiological evolution.
Research is another core competence in public health and continuous professional development is
mandatory for public health leaders to effectively contribute towards evidence creation for
designing better public health systems and policies.
The online Executive Certificate in Public Health Leadership and Research (PHLR) is designed for
public health and allied professionals who work and should augment the use of their time while
