Why study this program?
How can we effectively make our new breakthrough research available to patients in the form of a treatment to help them live longer? How can we learn from the already existing therapies and take them back to basic research to make them more effective? The answer to both these questions is 'Translational Medicine' or 'Translational Research'. Translational medicine is now a globally recognized, promising discipline that involves the translation of science from a laboratory bench to a hospital bedside and then taking the therapy back to the lab for further research. A large part of translational medicine is focused essentially on novel drug therapies. Translational medicine essentially serves the purpose of in vitro studies, pre-clinical studies and human trials to help treat major human health problems. Professionals or experts in translational medicine design several pathways to facilitate the best therapies that are to be tested in human subjects.
It is the evolution of an innovative thought that transforms into a new therapy or device so as to help improve human health and manage disease. This enthusiastic field has gained popularity because of its high demand in the international research sector. It largely comprises a broad range of scientific disciplines for instance, molecular medicine, intellectual property, funding, regulation and clinical trial design among the several others. Translational Medicine aims to provide one with knowledge & hone skills to perform studies related to pharmaceutical & biomedical research and thus to obtain a newly discovered medicine through tedious clinical development phases.
There is an urging desire to rapidly progress discoveries from a laboratory bench to a hospital bedside, and that brings enormous impediments such as those of scientific, technological, commercial, ethical & regulatory affairs that must be addressed and overcome. All of this has shaped the requirement for a whole new array of duly skilled professionals to perform the significant task of stirring medical research more rapidly to medical technology and a translational medicine program is aimed to deliver just that.

The curriculum for the program - Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Translational Medicine is extensive, has been developed and evaluated by experienced industry professionals and is fully endorsed by the industry.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed on an ongoing basis by the faculty based on the following criteria:
One is the completion of the online multiple choice question tests that follow each lesson; and second is the timely submission of assignments for each study module within the JLI e-Campus.

Am I eligible?
The minimum eligibility criteria for Advanced PG Diploma in Translational Medicine would include either of the following:
- Any degree in Bioscience/Life Sciences such as Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology etc
- Any degree in Medicine such as MBBS, BDS, BPT, BAMS, BHMS,, BUMS etc
- Any degree in Pharmacy / Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Any degree in Chemistry / Biostatistics / Bioinformatics
- Any degree in Nursing / Allied Health.
- Students in their final year of graduation for the above courses are also eligible to apply.
Candidates without any of these qualifications who may have extensive work experience in drug development may also be eligible for this program. Please check with our counsellors for more information.
What support will I receive?
As a student you can interact online with the faculty members and fellow students to network and to discuss important topics via your e-Campus. The faculty promptly answers all questions related to the study in the Online Campus Tutoring Center (OCTC).
Towards the end of the program you will be provided placement assistance if required and career development support via the “Student Success Team”.
In addition, each participant registered in the Advanced Post-Graduate Diploma in Translational Medicine Course is provided with a mentor who is an experienced professional from the industry. The mentor can be contacted at any time via email or phone.
