All programs conducted by JLI are based on a Modular System with each Study Module equivalent to a specific number of Credits (Module Credit Value or MCV). The sum of all Module Credit Values offered for a program make up the Total Credits awarded for that program. The Academic performance is measured by grade points on a 4 point scale. Students can progress at their own pace and complete the Study Modules assigned to them.
Grading Scale:
Following grading scale is applied to grade each Study Module:
Score | Grade | Point Value (PV) |
---|---|---|
97-100 | A+ | 4 |
93-96 | A | 4 |
90-92 | A- | 3.7 |
87-89 | B+ | 3.3 |
83-86 | B | 3 |
80-82 | B- | 2.7 |
77-79 | C+ | 2.3 |
73-76 | C | 2 |
70-72 | C- | 1.7 |
67-69 | D+ | 1.3 |
65-66 | D | 1 |
61-64 | D- | 0.7 |
60-0 | F | 0 |
Based on the Point Value obtained by the student in each Study Module, Module Quality Points (MQP) are calculated.
MQP for each Module = Point Value x Module Credit Value
Overall academic performance is measured by a Cumulative GPA which is calculated as follows:
CGPA = Total of all MQP's / Total Module Credit Value for the Program
Example:
Module No. | Score | Grade | PV | MCV | MQP |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
001 | 85 | B | 3 | 2 | 6 |
002 | 77 | C+ | 2.3 | 4 | 9.2 |
003 | 88 | B+ | 3.3 | 2 | 6.6 |
Total | 8 | 21.8 |
Cumulative GPA: 21.8 / 8 = 2.7
Point Value Description:
4.0 - 3.7: Excellent Performance
3.3 - 2.7: Very Good Performance
2.3 - 1.7: Good Performance
1.3 - 0.7: Satisfactory Performance
